The decisions you make before your first real job matter more than most people realize. Volunteering, internships, CIT programs, and part-time work are not just resume fillers.
They are where you start to figure out who you are, what you’re good at, and what actually energizes you.
Who is this for?
This page is for high school, college, and young adult students who are at the beginning of their career journey and want to make intentional choices, not just random ones.
Maybe you’re trying to figure out what to do with your summers. Maybe a college application is coming up, and you need experiences that tell a real story.
Maybe you’re 22, and your first job isn’t what you expected. Wherever you are, there’s a next step.
✨ Staring at a blank resume template? You're not alone.
Most people, especially first-time job seekers, think they don't have enough experience. They're usually wrong. This questionnaire helps you surface everything you've actually done, from babysitting to teaching yourself something on YouTube. It all counts. Download, fill it out, and see what you find.
Learn how your strengths can help you succeed as a student, giving you greater confidence in your abilities and empowering you to excel in the classroom and in your future career.
How to choose the right opportunity
Not every volunteer role or internship is created equal. Here are the questions worth asking before you commit:
Does it connect to something you’re genuinely curious about?
Will you work alongside people you can learn from?
Is there a real role to play, or will you just be observing?
Can you talk about what you did and why it mattered?
Does it stretch you in some way?
That last one matters most. Comfortable is fine. Growth is better.
